Meditation with Sound

Group workshops

About The Classes

Robert's experience of training in many different traditions has led to the understanding that each technique has its advantages and disadvantages, for example, the powerful sound techiques are best taught after the gentler breath techniques, the object meditations (sound and breath) best taught before the more demanding open meditative techniques like Zen- Shikantaza. With this in mind, the first part of the lesson tends to focus on gentle guidance through clearing techniques until people feel more relaxed to move on to the more advanced open techniques. No special clothing, knowledge or beliefs are needed.

The classses are non - religious and are not connected to any religion.

The classes are taught on a reflective and responsive basis.

Their are presently two group classes.

Friday tends to focus on the essential meditative insights of Taoism,  Upanishads, Christianity and Zen Buddism as well as presently the western philosophical insights of Neizsche. This has enabled the groups to have a taste of the perennial wisdom at the heart of all the great 'Being' traditions. Plenty of time is then given for reflection and group discussion.  Philosophy is taught in the context of meditation and always in an open and accessible way.

Saturday tends to focus on the 'The Meditation Toolbox' where a range of techniques are taught, including breath, sound, body and open Zen meditations. Each of these meditations have different advantages and the aim is to teach the ability to use different techniques when appropriate, especially when faced with life's many challenges.

The classes are small - maximum 12. Individual needs can therefore be met in a friendly environment. Students sit on chairs and no special equipment or clothing is needed.

All classes are inclusive to beginners and time is freely provided to answer questions. There is no requirement to give feedback and that which is given is received openly. All that is required is a desire to listen.

Both classes are taught in Crouch End, which is known for its creative and village - like atmosphere. Friday session is taught at a student's flat - please contact Robert for more information if interested.

Saturdays classes are held in spacious relaxing rooms at the Haelan Centre, a major complimentary clinic in Crouch End, North London.

Classes overlook the famous Clock Tower in the Town Centre. The area provides a warm, homely setting, for meditation practice.

I have tried lots of different ways to become a better person. I have been in many meditation and yoga classes, being preached at by different individuals trying to teach their way of creating a new me. Robert has taught me that the only way, is to look within, with ease and no effort – you can’t imagine how empowering that is and how much my life has changed since.

Since starting Meditation with Sound my life changes daily. I am able to really listen, I am able to really feel, I am able to know with confidence that practising with Robert is making me the best person I can be, right here and right now.
